Porporela, Dubrovnik Croatia

I fell in love with Porporela.

Porperala is the heart and soul of Dubrovnik, the capital of Croatia.  It is a pier in the Old Port of Dubrovnik built in the 19th century to protect the ships and boats.

Porperala has a sentimental note and a special place in the hearts of locals. It was perfectly described like this . . .

"Porperala is, for many, a place where that first kiss happened on a hot summer night cooled slightly with a gentle breeze from the sea.  A place wherein the evenings you take a stroll hand in hand with somebody you love and look for a romantic spot where you could sit on a rock and forget about anything else besides here and now.  A place where you would go to heal your broken heart and spend hours sitting by the sea, listening to the sounds of waves and watching the turquoise blue water in hopes they would wash away your pain.  A place where you would go with your friends when you were 12 or 13 years old to sit on warm steps, lick ice cream and talk about boys.  It is also a place where you would seek refreshment from that summer heat and some moments of peace and silence on hot summer nights when the Old Town is full of people buzzing with sounds. It makes a perfect place when you seek some solitude and just want to look at the blue sea, green Lokrum island, while seagulls sing and dance above your head."

The description of this place made me fell in love with it. Not only that. But I saw it. I felt it. 

Porporela lighthouse was a surprising discovery. I peeked on the window of "The Wall," and I got excited seeing her. This happy encounter was unplanned, yet I believe has brought up by fate.

It is a small steel lighthouse that has served its purpose for many years. It may not be the most beautiful lighthouse but definitely located in one of the most beautiful places on earth. It invites people and mesmerizes them.  It attracts anyone who appreciates beauty.  I know, I was. 

A majestic place that anyone would fall in love with. Captivating. From the sky to the beach and everything around it. Full of awesomeness.

Porporela is one of my favorite places on earth. Porporela lighthouse is indeed a newly discovered favorite lighthouse. A trip with friends made it happen.

One summertime in Croatia  . . . I had wonderful memories and beautiful photos to remember.
