Spring Point Ledge, Portland Maine

I discovered Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse during another work layover in Maine.  The nice weather with the blue sky and peaceful water blended with the beauty of the lighthouse.

The lighthouse was built in 1897 as a warning beacon to avoid inevitable human calamity. History says that many disasters happened on the reef before the birth of the lighthouse.  Hence, the public demanded to build a warning system on the reef.

One thing that is unique on this lighthouse is the cool experience of walking on these huge rocks piled equally to give balance to whoever wants to take this path. I enjoyed my walk and even tried to jump with joy to see if I could balance this rocky walkway. And yes, I did!

Shall I say I experienced a "bed of rocks" literally?

I tried to climb, and I wished it was open that day.  However, I was fortunate enough to walk into it, see it, and touch it. What a beautiful piece of history. Very picturesque indeed.

I did spend some time watching the boats pass by.   The view was very calming, and the wind blows softly on my face.   It was very relaxing.

A window reef overlooking another lighthouse? Yes, Maine is known as the Lighthouse State, and there are 65 historical lighthouses still standing.  These lighthouses are an important part of Maine's history, and they are popular tourist attractions.

Spring Point Ledge was my third lighthouse explored in Maine.  I love Maine lighthouses.
